Our Story

Friendship, solving a problem and sustaining the environment.

Two best friends born 10 days apart, Josh Nzewi and David Iya, saw an opportunity to empower and connect wholesalers across the world, eliminate wasteful transportation and increase the lifecycle of devices.

How it all began

In 2017, David had upgraded from his Apple iPhone 7 Plus and wanted to resell at maximum value. After several visits to various carrier stores and calling different pawnshops, he discovered a vast disparity between the prices of phones locally vs. online. David informed Josh of this price disparity and then they started buying phones locally and selling them online.

The problem

Given our background as wholesalers, we understand the challenges. Over $46 billion worth of used smartphones were sold each year globally (growing 13% YoY), but there was no price transparency; prices would vary by over 40% for the same device between different sellers, trading was incredibly informal as million-dollar trades would happen through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook groups and forums leaving potential room for scams.

Our solution - in comes Eze.

So we created Eze, the world’s first commodities exchange for devices. On our platform, we lower trade barriers by offering sellers and buyers a safe platform to transact directly. We also enable safe and transparent trade by offering a secure payment system, competitive prices, and discounted shipping. Each seller is vetted and monitored for the accuracy of each of their transactions and each device is graded carefully so buyers receive exactly what they ordered. Additionally, all funds are also held in escrow until the buyer confirms satisfactory delivery.
